The Field Sales Engineer plays a vital role in supporting Acumentrics’ Sales organization by working closely with the Regional Sales Manager (RSM) to identify, qualify, and support power‑supply opportunities across government and commercial markets. This position will be field‑focused, requiring travel to customer sites, tradeshows, demonstrations, and industry events to provide on‑site technical expertise and customer engagement. Serving as a technical liaison between customers and Acumentrics’ internal engineering, operations, and product teams, the Field Sales Engineer ensures that customer requirements are clearly understood, thoroughly assessed, and translated into effective power‑solution proposals. The role is responsible for delivering technical support throughout the sales cycle, including product education, system evaluations, and technical troubleshooting, while ensuring that all opportunities align with Acumentrics’ core competencies, strategic priorities, and revenue objectives
Essential Job Functions
Customer Engagement & Technical Representation
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact during customer interactions, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and communicated to internal engineering, product, and operations teams.
- Conduct field visits, product demonstrations, customer meetings, and tradeshows in support of Regional Sales Managers, providing hands on technical expertise
- Deliver technical presentations, product training, and application guidance to customers, partners, and industry stakeholders
Sales Process Execution
- Support all phases of the sales process—including RFI/RFQ response, capture strategy, product qualification, LRIP, and FRP—ensuring technical accuracy, timely deliverables, and alignment with Acumentrics’ capabilities
- Apply strong discovery skills and open‑ended questioning to identify customer technical and business needs, enabling the development of tailored, high‑value solutions
- Collaborate with internal and external Acumentrics stakeholders to develop competitive solutions that meet margin targets and comply with pricing, ISO, administrative, and operational policies.
Technical Solution Development
- Partner with engineering and operations to gather, interpret, and translate complex technical information into compliant, innovative power solutions
- Generate accurate quotes, proposals, and technical response packages—including block diagrams, compliance matrices, project schedules, and supporting documentation.
Customer Support & Field Service
- Provide onsite troubleshooting, system evaluations, and technical support throughout the pre sales and post sales lifecycle, coordinating internal resources as needed to ensure timely issue resolution and customer satisfaction
Product & Technology Development Support
- Participate in the evaluation of new products and technologies, providing field feedback to help shape future product development
- Continuously expand technical knowledge of Acumentrics’ products and services to improve solution development, presentations, and customer support
Sales Operations & Communications
- Field inbound calls, emails, and web chat inquiries, ensuring prompt and professional customer responses
- Organize, maintain, and track sales owned equipment used for tradeshows, demos, and bailments.
AI-Enabled Workflow Optimization
- Integrate AI chat assist and knowledge retrieval tools into daily workflows to accelerate access to product data, specifications, and historical proposal content
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies to improve sales efficiency, enhance technical solution development, and strengthen customer engagement

Other Duties

- Must be able to drive in excess of 4 hours (customer visits)
- Must be able to maintain a high level of focus (internal/
- external meetings) for more than 4 hours
- Must be able to fly in excess of 10 hours when required
Qualifications, Experience, and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Inside/Outside technical sales experience preferred
- Working knowledge of power electronics
- Sales experience in the military and industrial sectors a plus
- Working knowledge of ERP (Epicor is preferred), CRM (Salesforce is preferred), and experience working with outside reps is required
- Past Military Service is considered a plus
- Experience with AI tools is considered a plus
Computer and Equipment Skills
- Foundational computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and the Internet. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
- Use of Outlook email and calendaring.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and/or other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis, and maintain databases.
- Use of AI technologies and tools to improve sales team efficiency and day-to-day work
- Use of online teleconferencing software (e.g., Zoom or Teams). Use of 3rd party software for Serial and SNMP communication interfacing
